Tacos y Tortas El Chilango is a beloved San Antonio food spot known for authentic Mexico City-style street food. The owners wanted a bold, personality-packed website that reflected their culture and food while attracting new customers and improving local search presence.

The client had no online ordering system, minimal social proof, and no easy way for new customers to find them online. Their biggest goals were:

  • Showcase their unique menu and street-food authenticity
  • Make location, hours, and contact information super clear
  • Drive foot traffic through better visibility and customer trust

& Strategy

I focused on understanding the visual language of street food—bright colors, bold fonts, casual tone, and mouth-watering imagery. I analyzed similar taquerías and food trucks, but ensured this one stood out.

UX/UI
Design

The design was built around vibrancy and clarity:

  • High-quality food photography and animated transitions
  • Fun, bold typography and color palettes that reflect Mexican street culture
  • Scroll-friendly, single-page layout for mobile users
  • Sticky nav for quick access to menu, hours, and contact

Development

I built the site to load fast, with image optimization, mobile responsiveness, and smooth transitions. Social links (Instagram/Facebook) were embedded prominently to support engagement.
